Baseball Recap: La Salle Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but La Salle ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Miamisburg Vikings 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Lancers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Alex Smith looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avier Carter, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Isaac Goldschmidt, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

La Salle pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Miamisburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Salle will take on Elder at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lancers are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Miamisburg, they are taking a road trip to face off against Wayne at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
