            Baseball Preview: Loretto Mustangs vs. Lewis County Panthers        
        
		
        
        
            Loretto is 9-1 against Lewis County since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Mustangs will square off against the Panthers at 7:00  p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Thursday, Loretto needed a bit of extra time to put away Richland. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  3-2  victory over the Raiders. The  win was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won three  matchups in a row.

  Casen Springer was  excellent,  going 3-for-4 with one  triple, one  stolen base,  and one  run. He is becoming a predictor of Loretto's success: when he posts  at  least three  hits the team is 3-1 (and 8-13 when he doesn't).  Jayden Aaron was another key player,  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances with one  double.
Hampshire typically has all the answers at home, but  on Monday Lewis County proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Hawks  4-3.
 Lewis County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Brayden Whitlow, who  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base and two  RBI.
 Loretto pushed their record up to 11-14 with the  victory, which was their third straight  at home. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lewis County, they now  have a winning record of 14-13.
 Loretto couldn't quite get it done against Lewis County when the teams last played  on April 8th as they fell  6-1. Can the Mustangs avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
