            Softball Preview: Calhoun Red Devils vs. Wahama White Falcons        
        
		
        
        
            The Calhoun Red Devils will venture away from home to  take on the Wahama White Falcons  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Calhoun took a 11-run  loss the last time they faced off against Wirt County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Devils had just enough and edged out the Tigers  12-11.
Meanwhile, Wahama is ranked highly in their home state and   on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Harrison County. The White Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  5-3  win over the Thorobreds/Fillies. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for the White Falcons.
 Elissa Hoffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three  runs (all of which were unearned)  on six hits.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Kalyn Christian, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with one  triple, two  RBI,  and one  run. The team also got some help courtesy of  Payton Staats, who  scored a  run and  stole three bases while going 2-for-3.
 Wahama pushed their record up to 12-2 with the  victory, which was their ninth straight  at home. Those  home  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Calhoun, their record is now 2-4.
 Calhoun suffered a grim  18-1 defeat to Wahama  when the teams last played  two weeks ago. Can the Red Devils avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
