Barron extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-14. They came up short against the Hayward Hurricanes, falling 27-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 last Monday.
Barron saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ariella McDonald, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
As for Hayward, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Considering they have won 11 matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Hayward's side, Kaydee Campbell and Avery Pearson-Seifert were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Campbell pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Pearson-Seifert pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Campbell has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Campbell went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Pearson-Seifert got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most doubles Campbell has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Hayward got a massive performance out of Colby Sprenger, who fired off two home runs, five runs, and two stolen bases while going 5-for-5. Those five hits gave Sprenger a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Kufahl, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barron will welcome Unity at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hayward, they will host Ashland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
