Basketball Game Preview: Wake Forest Cougars vs. Millbrook Wildcats

Wake Forest hasn't had much luck against Millbrook recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cougars duke it out with the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Wake Forest is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Friday. They were dealt a 64-34 loss at the hands of Wakefield. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Wolverines are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Millbrook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 75-39 loss at the hands of Rolesville. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-16.

Despite the loss, Millbrook saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grace Bardeen went 5 of 10 on her way to 14 points. That's the most points Bardeen has posted since back in December of 2024.

Wake Forest's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Millbrook, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Things could have been worse for Wake Forest, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-34 loss to Millbrook in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Wake Forest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
