Volleyball Recap: New Berlin West Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, New Berlin West couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 3-1 to the Grafton Black Hawks on Thursday. The Vikings' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

The final score came out to 25-22, 15-25, 25-17, 25-18.

Willow Kumprey paced New Berlin West's offense, picking up 16 kills. Kumprey got some help from Haidyn Klemstein and her 21 assists. Klemstein was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Leading Grafton to victory were Abigail Barthelemy and Paige Arentz. Barthelemy had 13 digs and four assists, while Arentz had 14 assists and seven digs. That's the most assists Barthelemy has posted over her last seven matchups.

New Berlin West's defeat dropped their record down to 20-10. As for Grafton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-10 record this season.

New Berlin West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grafton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Pius XI Catholic on the 1st.
