Basketball Recap: Winfield-Mt. Union Skates Past Columbus with Ease

Winfield-Mt. Union won the last time they faced Columbus and things went their way on Friday too. The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves claimed a resounding 63-34 win over the Columbus Wildcats. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Winfield-Mt. Union has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Columbus, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winfield-Mt. Union will take on West Burlington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in West Burlington's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Columbus, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pekin at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th.
