The Leyden Eagles will head out to challenge the Addison Trail Blazers at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Leyden is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Leyden came up short against Hinsdale South and fell 7-4. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Hornets: they've now lost three in a row.

Arianna Gallo was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gianna Olan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Abigail Cortez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Addison Trail fell victim to Berwyn/Cicero Morton and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 1-0. The Blazers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Leyden's record is now 9-9. As for Addison Trail, their record now sits at 10-9.

Leyden was able to grind out a solid win over Addison Trail in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
