The Indianapolis Arsenal Technical Titans will venture away from home to face off against the Purdue Polytechnic Techies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Indianapolis Arsenal Technical is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Last Saturday, Indianapolis Arsenal Technical lost to Warren Central on the road by a 63-49 margin. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Warriors are ranked 28th).
Despite the loss, Indianapolis Arsenal Technical had strong showings from James Townsend, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds, and Bles'Sed Thomas, who posted 19 points. Davion Jackson also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.
Meanwhile, Purdue Polytechnic had to suffer through a 83-49 loss at the hands of Lafayette Jefferson. The Techies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Indianapolis Arsenal Technical will need focus on slowing down Damion Green, one of several Purdue Polytechnic players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points and four blocks. Green has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of James Long Jr., who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points.
Purdue Polytechnic's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8. As for Indianapolis Arsenal Technical, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Indianapolis Arsenal Technical has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Purdue Polytechnic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Indianapolis Arsenal Technical was able to grind out a solid win over Purdue Polytechnic in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 69-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Indianapolis Arsenal Technical since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
