Basketball Recap: Terry Parrot's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Johnsonville over Carvers Bay

After flying high against Lake View last Tuesday, Johnsonville came back down to earth. The Johnsonville Flashes fell 66-56 to the Carvers Bay Bears on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Flashes of the 63-46 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Several Flashes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Terry Parrot, who went 5-for-7 en route to 11 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamere Ross, who posted 13 points and three steals.

It was another big night for Kenard Heyward, who went 8-for-17 to rack up 27 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists for Carvers Bay. Heyward has become a key player for Carvers Bay: the team is 11-2 when he posts at least 15 points, but 5-6 otherwise. Christian Washington was another key player, putting up nine points.

Johnsonville dropped their record down to 4-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Carvers Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Johnsonville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-39 win against Hannah-Pamplico on the 12th. As for Carvers Bay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-53 victory against Latta on the 12th.
