Softball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 2-11 to make it four. They lost 15-1 to the Peoria Notre Dame Irish. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chargers of the 5-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Centennial saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Hall, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Peoria Notre Dame, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Peoria Notre Dame's side, Lexie Dallinger-Eaker made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Dallinger-Eaker has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mady Gibson, who went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Centennial is set to square off against their familiar foe Normal West at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Peoria Notre Dame will take on rival Normal Community at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
