Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Cumberland

Cumberland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 21-2 margin over the Ladysmith Lumberjacks. The Beavers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lumberjacks, too.

Brianna Wells was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegan Beecroft, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Cumberland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 5-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Cumberland now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Ladysmith, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Cumberland will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lumberjacks: the pair will be back at it again later today.
