Softball Recap: Mohawk Find Success

Mohawk was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Carey on Tuesday. The Warriors never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Aubrey Gottfried made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Katie Woodland was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Mallory Brickner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Mohawk kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.

Mohawk's record is now 10-2. As for Carey, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Mohawk will have a chance to go back-to-back against Carey: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
