Baseball Recap: Apopka Falls Short of Lake Brantley in the Playoffs

Apopka and Lake Brantley squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Apopka had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 5-4. The Blue Darters have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Apopka got a good showing from Tyler Spaid, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Spaid has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Apopka saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Jaggers, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Apopka's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Lake Brantley, their win bumped their record up to 16-9-1.

Apopka does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lake Brantley, they will square off against Lake Mary at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
