Basketball Recap: Henrico Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Henrico Warriors came up short against the St. Mary's Ryken Knights and fell 56-45. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Mary's Ryken to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sydney Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. Thompson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaela Fair, who posted 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Henrico's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for St. Mary's Ryken, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Henrico will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mechanicsville at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for St. Mary's Ryken, they will head out to challenge Bishop McNamara at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop McNamara will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something St. Mary's Ryken surely won't give up without a fight.
