Softball Recap: Yuma Catholic Extends Road Winning Streak to Seven

Yuma Catholic had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Parker Broncs a 12-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-2 back in March.

The result came thanks to Cherish Trujillo's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Yuma Catholic let Mikaela Gonzales and Mailyn Milan run wild. Gonzales went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Milan went 1-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Faith Donley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Yuma Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matchups.

Yuma Catholic pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Parker, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14-1.

Yuma Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 17-0 victory against Odyssey Institute on the 17th. As for Parker, they have also already played their next game, an 11-1 defeat against Chino Valley on the 17th.
