            Football Recap: Meridian Wildcats vs. Oak Grove Warriors        
        
		
        
        
            Meridian extended their losing streak  to three  on Friday, dropping them down to 2-5. They lost  42-21 to the Oak Grove Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Warriors are ranked 14th).
As for Oak Grove, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 36.2 points over those games.
  Kellen Hall had another great game (as  he tends to do), throwing for 148 yards and three  touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also punching in one  TD on the ground. What's more,  he racked up 149.4  passer rating, the most he's  had since back in November of 2024.  Chavel Williams Jr. was another key player, gaining 98 total yards and a touchdown.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Meridian will  square off against  rival Northwest Rankin  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile, Oak Grove is set to  take on  their familiar foe Brandon  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
