Basketball Recap: Hardin-Central Comes Up Short

If Hardin-Central was riding high fresh off their 76-32 takedown of Norborne on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Orrick Bearcats on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 40-37 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2025.

Despite the loss, Hardin-Central still got an impressive performance from Brody Fifer, who shot 4-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 boards. Fifer's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Sam Barnett, who posted seven points and eight rebounds.

Hardin-Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Orrick, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Hardin-Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Concordia at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Orrick has already played their next matchup (against Carrollton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
