Football Recap: Hawthorne's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Hawthorne came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 34-16 win over the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers.

Hawthorne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Richard Roundtree Jr led the charge by throwing for 350 yards and four TDs while completing 74.1% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Roundtree Jr a new career-high in rushing yards (21). Darian Bowie also helped out as he racked up 115 receiving yards.

Melbourne Central Catholic lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Noah Flores, who picked up 129 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 42 yards. Another passer making a difference was Sebastian Troyan, who threw for 246 yards and one touchdown.
