Football Recap: Strong Performance on D from Jackson Arend and Gavin Coburn Leads Garretson over Chester

Chester came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against Garretson, but Gavin Coburn wouldn't allow it. The Blue Dragons blew past the Flyers 42-22 on Friday thanks in part to Coburn, who rushed for 136 yards and two TDs. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making three total tackles (1.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception.

Garretson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jackson Arend and Coburn. Coburn also put up two rushing touchdowns, which were his first of the season. Arend got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win snapped Garretson's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-5 record. As for Chester, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Garretson will head out on the road to challenge Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Garretson will need to watch out since Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy has now posted at least 31 points in their last six contests. Chester does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
