Basketball Game Preview: Michigan Lutheran Seminary Cardinals vs. Valley Lutheran Chargers

Valley Lutheran is hoping to do what St. Charles couldn't back in December of 2024: put an end to Michigan Lutheran Seminary's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Michigan Lutheran Seminary breezed by St. Charles to the tune of 59-25. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 26 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Michigan Lutheran Seminary to victory, but perhaps none more so than Logan Broekhuizen, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Reif, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 15 points.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Valley Lutheran opened the new year with a less-than-successful 66-56 loss to Laingsburg. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Valley Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Michigan Lutheran Seminary, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Valley Lutheran when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 60-54 win.
