Soccer Game Preview: Monarch vs. Everglades

The Monarch Knights will head out to square off against the Everglades Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Monarch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3 goals per game this season.

Last Monday, Monarch narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Coral Glades 2-1. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Knights' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 335th, while the Jaguars are ranked 144th).

Kearstin Iadarola was the driving force of Monarch's attack as she scored both of Monarch's goals, bringing her season total up to four goals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Everglades, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Boyd Anderson an 8-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Gators' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

With the win, Everglades broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4. As for Monarch, the victory got them back to even at 3-3-2.

Monarch suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Everglades in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Monarch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
