Softball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 1-7. They lost 11-0 to the LaBrae Vikings. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Leopards' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for LaBrae, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Considering they have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For LaBrae's part, Riley Rowe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Rowe was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Makenzie Lichty was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Mariah Jones was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: LaBrae beat Liberty by a score of 18-0 later that day.
