South Decatur hasn't had much luck against Hauser recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cougars will welcome the Jets at 5:00 p.m. South Decatur is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
South Decatur came out on top against Tri on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Cougars put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

JP Scudder and Grady Scudder were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Scudder pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Grady struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Scudder went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Grady got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. South Decatur is undefeated when Grady posts two or more runs, but 2-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corbin Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Corey Nugent, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
South Decatur always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Hauser came tearing into Saturday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Twisters.
Hauser saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Simeon Wasil, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Stryker Gill was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
South Decatur has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Hauser, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
South Decatur came up short against Hauser when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
