Softball Recap: Lampasas Has No Trouble Against Jarrell

Lampasas barely beat Jarrell the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Badgers blew past the Cougars 12-5 on Tuesday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 12-10 victory on April 1st.

Farmer Brooklyn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lampasas let Burton Brady and Ybarra Julia run wild. Brady fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4, while Julia went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Julia a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kothmann Kamryn, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Lampasas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are 8-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Lampasas and bumps their season record up to 13-14. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Jarrell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-20-2 record this season.

Lampasas has already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against China Spring on the 25th. Jarrell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
