Richardson took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Lake Highlands, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 5-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cal Attel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Richardson's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Marcus Bond, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Richardson's win bumped their record up to 17-7-2. As for Lake Highlands, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-13.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Richardson is set to square off against their familiar foe MacArthur at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.6, the Cardinals 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Lake Highlands will face off against rival Irving at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
