Basketball Recap: Tokay Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Tokay Tigers came up short against the Miramonte Matadors and fell 79-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (65), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Preston Rguem had an outrageously good game for Miramonte as he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave Rguem a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Houssami, who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and five blocks.

Tokay's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-10. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Miramonte, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-9.

Tokay will challenge Bear Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tokay has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Miramonte, they will square off against Ygnacio Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
