Softball Recap: Crescenta Valley Comes Up Short

After a string of three wins, Crescenta Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Upland Highlanders/Scots by a score of 8-7. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders/Scots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2020.

Megumi Ono was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

Ono wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Crescenta Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Crescenta Valley's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Upland, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Crescenta Valley Falcons challenge El Segundo Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Upland will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Claremont at 3:30 p.m. on April 1st.
