Flag Football Recap: Air Academy Piles Up the Points Against the Vanguard School

There's no place like home for Air Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat The Vanguard School Coursers 33-6. The Kadets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 27 points or more this season.

Air Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nadia Anderson, who threw for 130 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Murdoch, who picked up 50 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Air Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tess Heater and Alli Dreessen. Dreessen also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.

Air Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.6 points on average over those games. As for The Vanguard School, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Air Academy will square off against rival Vista Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Kadets 12.8, the Wolves 14.7) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, The Vanguard School is set to challenge their familiar foe Fountain-Fort Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
