Basketball Recap: Valor Preparatory Academy Owls vs. Sugar Creek Charter Wildcats

If Valor Preparatory Academy was riding high fresh off their 101-54 takedown of Charlotte Lab School last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Valor Preparatory Academy Owls took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sugar Creek Charter Wildcats on Friday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 78-71 back in December of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sugar Creek Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jerry Kuttas, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. Those 17 points gave Kuttas a new career-high. Terry Watson was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 12 points.

Valor Preparatory Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Sugar Creek Charter, they moved to 10-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Valor Preparatory Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Queen's Grant at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th. As for Sugar Creek Charter, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 46-43 defeat against Nation Ford on the 18th.
