Basketball Recap: Columbia Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jeremy Jackson and Cooper Estep

Columbia Academy lost against The Webb School back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Columbia Academy Bulldogs fell just short of The Webb School Feet by a score of 48-46. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Feet are ranked 39th).

Columbia Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cooper Estep, who went 6 of 12 en route to 15 points and six rebounds, and Jeremy Jackson, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Ballard, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Columbia Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 6.3 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.5.

The Webb School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jax Howard led the charge by going 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points. Eli Brown was another key player, going 6 for 12 en route to 16 points.

Columbia Academy dropped their record down to 7-11 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for The Webb School, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Columbia Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-45 defeat against Franklin Road Academy on the 27th. The Webb School has also already played their next contest, a 54-53 win against Battle Ground Academy on the 28th.
