Basketball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Union Catholic's Winning Streak

It was fun while it lasted, but Union Catholic's undefeated season came to an end after five games on Friday. They fell to the Tampa Catholic Crusaders 67-63. The loss was the Vikings' first of the season.

Willie Piggott continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tampa Catholic, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 14 boards. The match was Piggott's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Skoot Donald, who went 7 of 17 en route to 17 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Union Catholic fell to 5-1. As for Tampa Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Union Catholic will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Union at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Tampa Catholic, they will face off against Hialeah Educational Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
