Basketball Recap: Emily Chichas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pinnacle Classical Academy over Carolina Day

Pinnacle Classical Academy has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 29.56 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They came up short against the Carolina Day Wildcats, falling 64-41. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-20.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emily Chichas, who posted six points along with seven boards and four steals. Chichas is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Clarissa Christopher, who put up three points and three steals.

Carolina Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Layla Hunter, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Keana Smith was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Pinnacle Classical Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Carolina Day, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Pinnacle Classical Academy will take on Piedmont Community Charter at 4:00 p.m. on January 16th. As for Carolina Day, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-44 win against Spartanburg Day on the 9th.
