Basketball Game Preview: Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks vs. Catholic Crusaders

The Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks will venture away from home to challenge the Catholic Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Norfolk Collegiate is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

Last Wednesday, Norfolk Collegiate escaped with a win against Bayside by the margin of a single free throw, 47-46. The 47-point effort marked the Mighty Oaks' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Norfolk Collegiate got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavin Wright out in front who went 7 of 13 en route to 17 points along with five boards and four steals. Wright is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Burrough, who posted seven points along with seven rebounds and six steals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 69-54 victory over Norview on Wednesday.

Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for Norfolk Collegiate, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.

Norfolk Collegiate skirted past Catholic 65-63 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will Norfolk Collegiate repeat their success, or does Catholic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
