Basketball Game Preview: Goddard Rockets vs. Clovis Wildcats

Goddard is 2-8 against Clovis since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Goddard Rockets are taking a road trip to square off against the Clovis Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Goddard will head into Friday's match having proved themselves against Tucumcari: Goddard took a 25-point defeat the last time they faced off against Tucumcari, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Goddard narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Tucumcari 63-61. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.

Meanwhile, Clovis waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 68-56 victory over the Wildcats. The score was all tied up 33-33 at the break, but Clovis was the better team in the second half.

Goddard pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Clovis, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.

Goddard was dealt a bruising 58-14 loss at the hands of Clovis in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Goddard, Kailyn Jefferson (who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
