            Softball Preview: Wheeling Wildcats vs. Buffalo Grove Bison        
        
		
        
        
            Wheeling hasn't had much luck against Buffalo Grove recently, but that could start to change  on Friday. The Wildcats will square off against the Bison at 4:45  p.m. Wheeling is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2  runs per game  this season.
Wheeling made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Conant, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats fell just short of the Cougars by a score of  5-3 on Wednesday. The Wildcats just can't catch a break and have now endured seven defeats in a row.
 Ava Shrake was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She  struck out six batters over  six innings while giving up  five earned runs off   five  hits. Shrake was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances with two  runs.
 In other batting news,  Mia Smith was cooking despite her team's loss,   going a perfect 2-for-2 with two  RBI and one  double.
Meanwhile, Buffalo Grove posted their closest  win since April 16th on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Schaumburg  7-6. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for the Bison.
  Erin Ryan was  incredible,  going 2-for-3 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI.
 Wheeling's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Buffalo Grove, their record now sits at 9-10.
 Wheeling couldn't quite get it done against Buffalo Grove when the teams last played  back in April as they fell  5-0. Can the Wildcats avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
