Softball Recap: Lincoln-Way Central Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Lincoln-Way Central strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let the Coal City Coalers get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory.

Not much got past Brooke Seppi, who gave up just five hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Coal City off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Rowell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Sadie Scofield, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Rowell wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Lincoln-Way Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Lincoln-Way Central pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Coal City, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln-Way Central will welcome Munster at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Coal City, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Joliet Central at 4:30 p.m.
