Volleyball Recap: Sanai Murphy and Blair Thornton Secure Win for Somerset Sky Pointe

While Somerset Sky Pointe's victory against Bonanza wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles won by a set and slipped past the Bengals 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bengals: they've now won seven in a row.

Somerset Sky Pointe was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-8, 22-25, 25-13, 15-12.

Somerset Sky Pointe was led to victory by Blair Thornton and Sanai Murphy. Thornton had seven aces, while Murphy had 14 kills, 14 digs, and nine aces. Those nine aces gave Murphy a new career-high. Aubrey Gonzales also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Somerset Sky Pointe was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 34 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in eight consecutive contests.

Somerset Sky Pointe's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Bonanza, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-12.
