Basketball Recap: South Lafourche Takes a Loss

After flying high against Morgan City last Friday, South Lafourche came back down to earth. The South Lafourche Tarpons were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 50-49 to the A.J. Ellender Patriots. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tarpons came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Patriots are ranked 259th).

South Lafourche's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 22-11-1. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points over those games. As for A.J. Ellender, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-29.

South Lafourche wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-51 victory against Patterson on the 18th. As for A.J. Ellender, they will challenge Morgan City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
