Baseball Game Preview: Melrose Dutchmen vs. Sauk Centre Mainstreeters

The Melrose Dutchmen will head out to face off against the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Melrose is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Melrose came up short against Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta and fell 9-4.

Meanwhile, Sauk Centre scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Staples-Motley by a score of 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mainstreeters have suffered since May 20, 2024.

Sauk Centre got a massive performance out of Evan Zales, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Logan Frank, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Sauk Centre has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Melrose, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Melrose came out on top in a nail-biter against Sauk Centre when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dutchmen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
