Volleyball Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

Martinsville was the 3-1 winner over Monrovia when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Artesians fell 3-1 to the Bulldogs on Monday. The Artesians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The final score came out to 25-19, 21-25, 25-14, 25-15.

Owen Zurita paced Martinsville's offense, picking up nine kills. Zurita got some help from Cameron Sylvester and his 12 assists. Finally, Adrian Kerguelen kept Martinsville's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Monrovia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Martinsville will take on rival Perry Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Monrovia is set to challenge their familiar foe Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
