Basketball Recap: Kennedi Benton Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

Parkview won the last time they faced Duluth and things went their way on Saturday too. The Parkview Panthers managed a 50-45 victory over the Duluth Wildcats. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Wildcats are ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Parkview got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kennedi Benton out in front who posted 12 points and six rebounds. Benton is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Corrin Sevier was another key player, going 5 of 7 to rack up 15 points.

Parkview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

Parkview's victory bumped their record up to 18-9. As for Duluth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Looking ahead, Parkview will face off against Norcross at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Norcross will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Parkview surely won't give up without a fight. Duluth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
