Preview: Putnam Valley Tigers vs. Dobbs Ferry Eagles
The Putnam Valley Tigers will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Dobbs Ferry Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Putnam Valley has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-4 during that stretch of close contests.
Putnam Valley pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of The Leffell School by a score of 59-56.
Meanwhile, Dobbs Ferry waltzed into their matchup two weeks ago with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Barack Obama School for Social Justice by a score of 60-47. Given Dobbs Ferry's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Barack Obama School for Social Justice is ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Putnam Valley bumped their record down to 2-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Dobbs Ferry, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Putnam Valley opened the new year with a less-than-successful 64-55 defeat to Dobbs Ferry. Can Putnam Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
