Jackson-Reed is a perfect 5-0 against Coolidge since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Jackson-Reed will host Coolidge at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jackson-Reed has four straight victories, Coolidge has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Jackson-Reed's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Southern Maryland Christian Academy 12-0. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Simon Corbin tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Jackson Loomis was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season. Another player making a difference was Ben Shapiro, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Jackson-Reed kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Coolidge came up short against McKinley Tech on Friday, falling 16-2.
Idris Mouton and Orion Fernandez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mouton scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1, while Fernandez scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
Jackson-Reed pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average this season. As for Coolidge, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Coolidge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jackson-Reed hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. It's a different story for Coolidge, though, as they've only averaged .213. Will they be able to contain Jackson-Reed's hitters?
Everything went Jackson-Reed's way against Coolidge in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Jackson-Reed made off with a 26-0 win. Will Jackson-Reed repeat their success, or does Coolidge has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
