Preview: Reedley Pirates vs. Fowler Redcats
The Reedley Pirates will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Fowler Redcats at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Reedley earned a 9-4 victory over Bakersfield. The win was just what Reedley needed coming off of an 8-0 loss in their prior game.
Candince Moreno-Hairabedian was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and a triple while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Fonseca, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Fowler waltzed into their match on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They had just enough and edged the Drillers out 6-5.
Jaelyn Quintana looked comfortable as she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (she also only allowed one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk every time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Delyssa Garcia and Andreya Mendoza did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia went 1-for-1 with three RBI and a double, while Mendoza scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Katelyn Shoopman was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Reedley's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Fowler, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
