Basketball Recap: La Joya Coyotes vs. Austin Achieve Northeast
La Joya fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They managed a 58-54 victory over Austin Achieve Northeast on Saturday.

Leading La Joya to victory were Anthony Romero and Owen Benoit. Romero went 8 for 13 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds, while Benoit went 6 of 11 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. Those 18 points gave Romero a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Garcia, who posted eight points and three steals.
La Joya's win bumped their record up to 8-16.
La Joya will face off against Harlingen at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Austin Achieve Northeast, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Travis at 8:00 p.m. on February 4, 2025.
