Baseball Game Preview: Woodbridge Warriors vs. St. Margaret's Tartans

For the second straight game, Woodbridge will face off against St. Margaret. The Warriors will welcome the Tartans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodbridge's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so St. Margaret's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Woodbridge's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over St. Margaret's. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.

Caden Camacho and Vincent DeMarco were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Camacho tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, DeMarco didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Camacho went 4-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while DeMarco went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those four hits gave Camacho a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dylan Mutuc and Nevan Namgoong did most of the damage at the plate: Mutuc went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Namgoong went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Namgoong a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Stottlemyer, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Woodbridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Woodbridge has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for St. Margaret's, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-15.
