Basketball Recap: Cardinal Gibbons' Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Cardinal Gibbons's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They managed a 44-39 win over the Athens Drive Jaguars. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Jaguars, too.

Cardinal Gibbons got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Charlotte Fusco out in front who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. Those eight boards gave Fusco a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Hughes, who scored ten points.

Loss or not, Athens Drive got some senior leadership from Kianna Gulley and Makenzie Kelly. Gulley had 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals, while Kelly went 6 of 11 on her way to 14 points along with six boards and three steals.

Cardinal Gibbons' win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10. As for Athens Drive, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Broughton the next time they take the court. Cardinal Gibbons will head out to face Broughton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Athens Drive will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
