Lincoln is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will look to defend their home field against the Bravo Knights at 2:15 p.m. Bravo took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Lincoln, who comes in off a win.
Last Wednesday, Lincoln got the win against Maywood Academy by a conclusive 12-3.
Raymond Baez and Fabian Lopez were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Baez struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Lopez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Baez scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Lopez scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. With that strong performance, Baez is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Dharonn Paez was a standout: he scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryant Guitron, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Bravo came up short against Maywood CES on Thursday, falling 14-5.
Joshua Torres was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Michael Rendon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Bravo's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lincoln, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Bravo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lincoln has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. It's a different story for Bravo, though, as they've only averaged .325. Will they be able to contain Lincoln's hitters?
Lincoln beat Bravo 7-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Lincoln repeat their success, or does Bravo has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
