Basketball Recap: Ke'myia Young's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Washington County over Martin County

If Washington County was riding high fresh off their 60-11 takedown of North East Carolina Prep last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Washington County Panthers lost 71-50 to the Martin County Gators on Wednesday. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Gators from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Washington County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ke'Myia Young, who posted 15 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Ke'Nyia Young, who had 16 points.

Washington County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Martin County, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7.

Washington County has already played their next match, a 66-33 loss against Gates County on the 7th. Martin County has also already played their next contest (against North East Carolina Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
